Financial Manager (Fixed Term 5 Years).5 FTE Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM)

Applications are invited for the above part-time contract role for a five year period.

The Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM) is a national, SFI funded, €49.6m research centre that brings together researchers from NUI Galway, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, University of Limerick, University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin and Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. The prime objective for CÚRAM is to radically improve health outcomes for patients by developing innovative implantable ‘smart’ medical devices to treat major unmet medical needs. Implants will be designed and manufactured to respond to the body’s environment and to deliver therapeutic agents, such as drugs, exactly where needed. Cutting-edge science will develop devices using the very latest research from biomaterials, stem cells and drug delivery and the support of strong clinical collaborations, industry partners and hospital groups to enable rapid translation to the clinic. The centre will include almost 40 industry partners and support product development and the creation of new spin-out companies.

The post holder will will be responsible for the financial planning and operational functions of CÚRAM encompassing a range of research projects.

The post objectives are to: contribute to the coordination and delivery of existing taught postgraduate courses as well as supporting the development of new high quality postgraduate courses within the discipline of general practice and in collaboration with other disciplines. The successful applicant will be an experienced educator who should possess an educational qualification (at least at certificate level).  The successful applicant should possess significant postgraduate and/or undergraduate educational experience as well as excellent organisational and communication skills.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed term appointment as a University Teacher in Perioperative Nursing.  The successful candidate will normally hold a master’s degree in nursing or a related field, be a Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or be eligible for registration, have experience of teaching and supervising at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, have at least 3 years clinical experience in theatre nursing, and evidence of research activity and publication.  Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be required to take responsibility for teaching and the overall administration of the Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Perioperative) programme.  Note the successful candidate will be expected to teach in the classroom, skills laboratories and online.
