TestDisk is free data recovery software designed to help recover lost partitions. It can be used when attempting to recover files from a USB key that has become corrupt.

How can I get TestDisk software for my computer?
TestDisk is available free to download.
TestDisk installation instructions
- To install software on your machine you must login as an administrator
- Download ZIP file
- Extract files as prompted to a new file location
Note: download an evaluation copy of WinZip if no program is available to extract files on your computer
Use TestDisk to recover data from USB key
- Connect USB key to computer as normal
- Go to the new TestDisk file location, open the folder win and run testdisk_win.exe
- Select Create to create a new log file
- All storage areas will be shown, select the USB key and proceed
- Select the partition table – normally this is Intel for Windows computers
- Select Analyse
